Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival

Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival is one of the most exciting annual events on the island.  This year marked MVFWF’s seventh year, hosted in the town of Edgartown’s local restaurants and historical sites by the Edgartown Board of Trade.

The four day long festival features wine tasting seminars, premium wines, cooking demonstrations by nationally recognized award-winning chefs and wine personalities, culinary dinners, and the Grand Tasting.

During the ‘WINE & CHOCOLATE PAIRINGS MADE BY MAMA’ event co-founder and chocolate lover, Bennett Coffey of Not Your Sugar Mamas collaborated with Italian Wine Specialist Iris DiCicco of Palm Bay International to explore the marriage of Wine and Chocolate.

Not your Sugar Mama’s is a local chocolate company providing gluten free, vegan chocolate bars with such flavors as Salted Caramel, Lavender Sea Salt, Rose and Maca, Ginger Pomegranate, and Coconut Crunch (Below).  Not only is this chocolate delicious but it is good for you!

Guests received table side service from the Wine and Chocolate professionals in an intimate setting in the Chappy Room of the Kelley House.  Iris (Above) explains the six wines chosen to pair perfectly with Not Your Sugar Mama’s chocolate.

After enjoying wines and chocolates we ventured just steps away to the main event, the Grand Tasting!

The Grand Tasting is the highlight of the Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival  with over three hundred winemakers, spirits, breweries, gourmet foods, and restaurants all under a large tented roof.

Upon entry into the grand tent located in the center of Edgartown,  we felt like celebrities.  We were each given our own wine glasses with the Kelley House and MV Food and Wine logos for a tasting adventure. You could even have a professional photo shoot with the photographer on a red carpet!

The Kelley House’s, Newes from America Pub (Above) had a grand fall display and tasty apple bacon toasts.

Wine & Vermont Creamery Cheese! Mmm… It was heavenly.

The tent was a play ground of tables each with unique tastes and flavors.  The goal was to see it all and enjoy sipping on wine while meeting chefs and wine professionals from all over the world.

Local chefs showcased their island treats like the Kitchen Porch  (Above) local chicken liver mousse and red onion jam on crusty bread.  The Beach Plum Restaurant created an intricate pork display with a tasting of headcheese made by island chef Chris Fischer and his team (Below.)

Chefs from Martha’s Vineyard, Boston and New York participated in the day long event.  Some of which even had LIVE cooking demonstrations in the tent with a state of the art kitchen (Below)!
